Countless battles have already unfolded in the Mediterranean theatre in War Thunder, but with update 1.79 tankers will get the chance to escape the scorching desert heat of North Africa to fight on the first Mediterranean ground map set in the beautiful Italian countryside of the Reggio Calabria province!
The Upcoming War Thunder update, 1.79, brings with it a new map for combined arms battles set on the southernmost part of the Italian mainland. The map is inspired by the settlements and rocky landscape of the Reggio Calabria province overlooking the Strait of Messina.
Two new and magnificent rank V tanks are coming to War Thunder! It’s a story of a competition between two companies – Chrysler and General Motors – in creating a new main battle tank for the American army, which would soon become known around the world as the M1 Abrams.
In War Thunder, both tanks are very similar to each other. The XM-1 is a premium rank V tank with composite armor and side skirts. Though its armour is inferior to the armour of the M1 Abrams, it provides decent protection against any type of ammo at the top ranks.
The Centurion AVRE is an engineering vehicle based on a tank, equipped with a bulldozer scoop, reactive armour and a special cannon designed to destroy buildings and fortifications – with almost 16 kilograms of explosives in every shot!
In War Thunder, the Centurion AVRE will be one of the first rank V premium tanks in War Thunder update 1.79. The vehicle is already available to preorder as part of a pack. This tank is very unusual not only for the British tree, but for top ranks in general.
The P-40F is a later modification of the well-known American Warhawk which strived to address some of the underlying performance issues of the earlier variants by featuring a more powerful engine. After a more than successful campaign in the Mediterranean theatre, the P-40F is now ready to once more compete for total aerial supremacy in War Thunder’s upcoming update 1.79!
The T-64BV is a new researchable modification for the T-64B tanks, which adds a reactive set in War Thunder update 1.79. Pimp the tank!
Briefly: The last series modification of the famous Corsair designed for the French navy, able to carry a variety of US and French-made bombs and rockets, is on its' way in update 1.79. Hey, tankers! How are you down there?
The Type 90 is a Japanese third generation main battle tank, developed in the late ‘80s as a replacement to the outdated Type 61 and Type 74. Coming with update 1.79, fans of Japanese ground vehicles may expect the arrival of the long-awaited Type 90 to the top ranking battles of War Thunder!
We are pleased to present our plans to add an exchange for in-game War Thunder items and new opportunities for user-made camouflages in the game.
Today we want to tell you about our plans for the launch of the War Thunder Market – an in-game market in which players will be able to buy and sell items. When the Market launches, all players will be able to buy and sell coupons to get user-made camouflages for vehicles, along with other special in-game items. But we’ll go into that in later in this devblog. For now, we’ll tell you about the Market. Let’s go!
When we begun work on modern tanks, we realized that it was going to be a challenge both in terms of creating accurate 3D models and making them behave authentically, as most tank data is still classified.
However, in the spirit of our project, we use all the resources and information available to us to create in-game incarnations of these vehicles, and we strive to recreate them as close to reality as possible. In addition, this approach allows us to recreate real-world features from tank design doctrine in the game and give each tank a varied and unique gameplay experience.
Several tanks were added in patch 1.77, and opinions on these vehicles can vary widely depending on the source, so we wanted to set out our perspective on this topic. We also wanted to highlight possible differences between the release version of 1.77 and the test version on the open dev server.
In update 1.77 “Advancing Storm” we are updating the sounds for all the MLRS vehicles in the game. Recently, we talked about the major work we have done on the sounds for ground vehicle weapons and the whole sound panorama in ground battles in the upcoming update 1.77 “Advancing Storm”.
Today we would like to let you hear for yourself the reworking of sounds for rocket launcher systems. We have completely reworked the sound of the launching of rockets to make it more realistic. We have updated the sounds for the launching of rockets in all vehicles with MLRS including the famous Katyusha, the deadly Calliope and the magnificent Panzerwerfer 42.
You will be able to compare the sound of your Katyusha which you know from the military newsreels with the in-game sounds very soon in War Thunder update 1.77 “Advancing storm”!
In War Thunder update 1.77 “Advancing Storm”, we present a new system for loading ammo in tanks during battle.
More and more tanks and SPGs with an automatic loading and mechanized ammo racks are coming to War Thunder. Previously, any reloading was based on the following principle: the player could fire all shells from a magazine with little interval between shots, after which they had to wait quite a long time waiting for the magazine to fully reload to be able to fire again. This logic does not reflect the real operating principles of automatic loaders and mechanized ammo racks, so we’ve decided to update this aspect of the game.
The maximum fire rate shown for a tank in the game will be achieved only when using a first-order ammo rack. If shells in the first-order ammo rack run out and are not restocked, then the reloading time will increase when other racks are used .
Another round of questions and answers, specific to the upcoming 1.77 Advancing Storm update. Remember, the Dev server is subject to change for the final release to live.
Q. Will we receive the M833 APFSDS round for the M1 Abrams?
A. Currently we have no plans to add anything newer than the M774 rounds to the M1 ammunition load out, but this issue depends heavily on the final statistics of all new tanks, some time on the main server is required to collect the statistics.
In the upcoming update 1.77 “Advancing Storm” for War Thunder, fans of British aviation may look forward to the release of updated high quality models for both currently present Spitfire Mk.V versions in the game. As a bonus, two further modifications of the aircraft will become available to all War Thunder pilots. Let’s take a closer look!
Dagor Engine 5.0 — a new version of the game engine brings War Thunder improved graphics and effects.
The Ki-108 is a prototype late-war, high-altitude army interceptor design derived from the Ki-102 and is one of the last Japanese heavy fighter designs of WW2. Since the Ki-108 along with many other highly advanced Japanese aircraft were kept in reserve for the defense of the home islands, it never saw any actual combat. However, this is about to change with War Thunder’s update 1.77 "Advancing Storm", so get ready to rewrite history!
