Today, two new maps have arrived on the supertest: Minsk and Poland (names are not final). The former is a city map with references to a specific location in Russia, and the latter is a map of a mixed type in the setting of a Polish town. Read on for more details.
Earlier, several prototypes of these locations were released for tests, and today, the pre-release versions of each of the maps are ready to present: the current appearance of these maps is close to what they should look like when they are released, and the core gameplay is also likely to remain unchanged. The purpose of the test is to adjust and fine-tune the balance of these maps, and work on improving player comfort. How well different directions on the maps interact, the distribution of wins between the map sides, and how effective / interesting the strategic positions are will all be determined in this iteration, and any necessary tweaks will be made.
The first of these two is a city map, in which a section of the Central district in Minsk is reproduced quite accurately. This version of the map is set in the beginning of the 1970s. The general view of the circus and Victory Square areas has been maintained, but some smaller details were changed to improve the flow of gameplay. Nevertheless, the map will be very similar to the real-life Minsk: familiar homes, streets and attractions can be easily recognized if you have seen them before (or plan to get to know them).
In the game, the map can be conditionally divided into three areas:
This map, on the other hand, is of a mixed type, with both open spaces and the presence of positions for close combat. The location is not tied to a specific historical site in Poland, but visually, it is set in a rural area with large open fields, lots of vegetation, and low houses in the village with a large church building in its center. The central part of the map consists of a small brick factory near the river. In total, there are three obvious play areas:
When can you expect these maps?
As you can see, we are approaching the final stages of testing. When the layout of locations is finalized, the different sides and directions should be balanced. The release is set for the foreseeable future. Both maps are planned to make a proper appearance in the game, and the release dates will depend on the test results and the amount of work required to bring these locations up to their finished quality.
